Susanna Reynolds grew up in the Washington D.C. area, then attended Princeton University, graduating magna cum laude in Anthropology with a certificate in Theater and Dance. During this time she taught theater and dance to both children and inmates, and wrote her thesis on Drama as a therapeutic and ritual modality for interpersonal change in the prison setting. She was fortunate to study with Ashley Montague, the anthropologist and writer of Touching, The Human Significance of the Skin. David Crabb, a Linguistic Anthropologist heavily influenced her study of movement and language as forms of communication that change individual's self-perception and capacities.
She attended massage school at the Baltimore School of Massage and studied with Nelitta Anderson, a native Hawaiian Healer (Kahuna). She also studied human energetics and principles of learning for 10 years with the Krock Institute. She apprenticed as a midwife for one year in Colorado, ending this period of study at the Guild for Structural Integration, learning the work of Dr. Ida Rolf with Peter Melchior and Emmett Hutchins, Dr. Rolf's first trained teachers.
Since 1993, Susanna has raised her three children with her husband Paul Reynolds, while deepening her studies and work through the Sound Circle Waldorf Teacher Training in Seattle, WA, further Cranial Sacral Therapy Study with Dr, Stevan Hall, and Visceral Manipulation Study with Michael Hahn. Her experience of raising children and teachng has enhanced her capacities as a manual therapist and educator.
Waldorf Teacher Training provides a foundational understanding of the human developmental processes of both children and adults. Susanna developed, taught and mentored the Seattle Waldorf School Parent Tot program. Practicing Structural Integration and teaching one to three year olds with their parents led her to the HANDLE Institute Training in Sensory Integration and Neural Development. Susanna works with the HANDLE Approach to support children and adults with autism spectrum through learning, behavioral and sensory processing difficulties. In the last years she trained in Reflex Therapy through Janet Oliver with PlanForLearning.com and is completing her 500 hour Yoga Training. Life Long learning is a passion supporting her work with clients.
She is now practicing Monday through Thursday in Seattle, while teaching Tuesday and Thursday 8 am classes at Lotus Yoga Studio in Columbia City.
